CELE's most prominent activities and papers
Towards an Internet Free of Censorship II
Perspectives in Latin America.
Within the framework of the IGF, in Guadalajara, Mexico, and together with the Special Rapporteurs for Freedom of Expression of the OAS and the UN, and the organization Article 19, CELE co-organized a regional consultation on human rights on the Internet. Over 30 organizations and companies participated.
We are pleased to announce that Agustina Del Campo has been appointed as the new director of the CELE owing to the resignation of Eduardo Bertoni, who has been recently assigned as the new National Director for Data Protection in Argentina.
CELE’s director Eduardo Bertoni will soon participate in UNESCO’s workshop about its Internet Freedom Series Publications, to be held on November 12th, at 9 a.m. in Workshop Room 2.
CELE organizes the workshop “Having your cake and eating it too: can internet rights and access goals be reconciled?” in conjunction with the Center for Studies on Technology and Society (CETYS) at the University of San Andrés.

The Charter of Human Rights and Principles for the Internet in Spanish was launched at UNESCO
The Dynamic Coalition on Internet Rights and Principles of Internet presented the Spanish edition of the Charter of Human Rights and Principles for the Internet during the last International Conference of UNESCO "Connecting the dots: options for future action.", held in Paris on March 3-4.

The Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights (IACHR) and Inter-American Dialogue organized on February 11th the symposium "Challenges to Freedom of Expression: a hemispheric agenda.”

Audience on Human Rights and the Internet in the IACHR report
In the report, the IACHR highlights the different concepts presented by presenters during the audience: privacy and surveillance; access to knowledge by way of the Internet and copyright; discrimination in digital environments; and also the opportunities, challenges and threats related to freedom of expression on the Internet.

CELE in a workshop on intermediary liability at Stanford University
The director of CELE participated in the workshop "Fostering Greater Collaboration between Service Providers and Internet Freedom Groups in the Public Interest", on December 15th. The activity was organized by the Center for Internet and Society (CIS) at Stanford University and the Open Society Justice Iniciative.

CELE collaborated on a report on Internet freedom
Freedom House released its report "Freedom on the Net", the fifth edition of a publication that evaluates the level of freedom on the Internet in different countries, as its name implies. To do so, an analysis is conducted of various indicators such as for example, economic barriers or infrastructure for Internet access, among others.

Presentation of the African Declaration on Internet Rights and Freedoms
In the context of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), which is taking place in Istanbul (Turkey), the African Declaration Drafter’s Group released the African Declaration on Internet Rights and Freedoms. CELE was one of the institutions that made suggestions during the consultative process which led to the drafting of the document.

OGP Chooses New Experts for the Elaboration of its Independent Reviews
The Open Government Partnership (OGP) has published the list of the group of new reviewers who will examine advances in the fulfillment of commitments made by the various countries that comprise the OGP. The process is known as the Independent Reporting Mechanism, and produces biannual reports.
