Course Objectives:
The Spanish-Beginner Level Course’s main goal is that the student will learn to:
» React to unknown information and understand the information received.
» Greet and react to a greeting.
» Ask and give information regarding the meaning and way to write Spanish words.
» Understand and provide personal information about oneself and about others.
» Open and keep a communication channel.
» Recognize a person in a telephone conversation and make out and identify the purpose or theme of the communication.
» Understand and provide information regarding usual activities in one’s personal and professional environment.
» Understand and provide information on the existence and location of something.
» Recognize and describe the different parts of a house.
» Recommend and give one’s opinion regarding the different types of households.
» Interact with a clerk asking whatever it is one wants to buy, know the places where to purchase it.
» Interrupt or get someone’s attention.
» Extend an invitation, agreeing with someone to do something.
» Describe and understand the description of places and services of a city and locate them on a map. Ask direction to get somewhere.
» Ask and provide information regarding facts that took place in the past, not only about oneself but also about others.
» Understand and acknowledge common phrases.
Grammatical Objectives:
» Alphabet.
» Greeting, questions to find out the meaning of unknown words or their spelling.
» Morphology of regular verbs in the Present Tense.
» Articles, gender and numbers.
» Temporary markers to express time related to parts of the day, days of the week.
» Irregular verbs in the Past Tense.
» Two different “to be”, ser and estar.
» Adjectives.
» To like, gustar.
» Indicative pronouns.
» Why/What/To.
» Prepositions and adverbs to point out location.
» Imperative.
» Phrases to indicate future.
